Gates of Power (BGaming): review and test in 2026

We played 3,500 spins at €0.20 on Gates of Power, BGaming’s new slot released in April 2026. RTP 96.03%, max win 15,000×, and 5 Feature Buy options. Here’s what we actually observed.

Gates of Power is a 6×5, ultra-high volatility slot developed by BGaming and Perfect Position, released in April 2026. Scatter pays, unlimited cascades, multipliers of up to 1,000×, and a max win of 15,000×. If you're familiar with the “Gates of” family, you’ll recognise the architecture—but the multiplier mechanics and the five Feature Buy options genuinely change the way it plays.

We absolutely love it. It’s already one of our favourite releases of 2026.

What Is Gates of Power as a Slot?

Gates of Power is a 6×5 scatter pays slot developed by Perfect Position (a partner studio) for BGaming, released in April 2026. The game is built around unlimited cascades, multipliers triggered by the Bolt symbol, and a max win of 15,000× the stake. It’s a slot for players willing to see their balance punished hard—but where a single spin can change your life.

The core concept: 8 or more identical symbols landing anywhere on the grid (scatter pays—no paylines, symbols pay anywhere on the screen) form a win. Winning symbols disappear, new ones drop in via cascades (tumbles), and the sequence continues without limit. Familiar with Gates of Olympus? It’s exactly the same principle.

Five random multipliers are displayed above the reels on every spin. The Bolt symbol activates them. In the Bonus and Super Bonus features, these multipliers accumulate into a progressive total that applies to every winning cascade.

What Does Gates of Power Deliver Over 3,500 Real-Money Spins?

We played 3,500 spins at a €0.20 stake, with the Bonus Hunt activated during a significant portion of our sessions. Does the feature make a difference? In our case, yes. We triggered a bonus roughly every 87 spins with the Bonus Hunt enabled, and every 154 spins in normal play.

The biggest hit from our various tests: €654 from a €0.20 stake. That single win allowed us to finish with approximately €150 in profit. Without it, we would have ended in the red.

Let’s be clear: this positive result came down to luck. We landed that big win and chose to cash out rather than continue. On a slot this volatile, knowing when to walk away while ahead is often the smartest decision a player can make.

What Are the RTP and Volatility of Gates of Power?

The RTP of Gates of Power is 96.03%, placing it firmly within the industry average. In simple terms, over the very long run, the game is designed to return €96 for every €100 wagered. However, over a single session, your balance can either explode or be wiped out. The hit frequency stands at 26.59%, meaning roughly three out of four spins result in no win.

Note: hit frequency includes all wins, not just bonuses. It differs from the bonus trigger rate, which occurs approximately once every 154 spins in normal play (based on OUR experience).

The 6×5 grid operates on a pure scatter pays system: a minimum of 8 identical symbols anywhere on the screen forms a win. The highest-paying premium symbol is the red helmet, awarding 25× the stake for 12 or more symbols. Low-paying symbols (gems) start at 0.10× for 8 matching symbols. If the 15,000× max win is reached during a spin, the game stops immediately and the winnings are paid out.

How Do Tumbles and Multipliers Work in Gates of Power?

On every spin, five random multipliers appear above the reels, with 16 possible values: 2×, 3×, 4×, 5×, 6×, 8×, 10×, 12×, 15×, 20×, 25×, 50×, 100×, 250×, 500×, or 1,000×. Each Bolt symbol activates one of them. A single spin can include up to five Bolt symbols, with their values added together before being applied to the total win.

The key rule to know: if a cascade ends without a win, any activated multipliers are consumed but have no effect. A Bolt landing on a spin with no winning combination is a wasted activation.

Cascades have no limit. A sequence can chain up to 10 consecutive tumbles if winning combinations continue to form.

How Are the Bonus, Super Bonus, and Power Spins Triggered?

The Bonus is triggered by landing 4 Zeus Scatters anywhere on the grid, awarding 15 free spins. During the bonus, a total multiplier starts at 0× and accumulates with each winning cascade: the values of activated multipliers are added to the running total, which is then applied to all subsequent wins. Available multipliers range from 2× to 1,000×. Landing three Scatters during the bonus awards 5 additional free spins.

The Super Bonus requires 5 Scatters. It follows the same principle and awards the same 15 free spins, but all multipliers come with a minimum floor of 10×. The difference in potential is significant.

Gates of Power high multipliers during the Free Spins bonus

In both features, the five multiplier slots above the reels are locked at the start of the bonus session. Once they have all been consumed by Bolt symbols, the Bolt can no longer appear until the end of the feature.

Power Spins work differently: a Bolt or Scatter is guaranteed on every spin, with multipliers ranging from a minimum of 50× up to 1,000×. If a Bonus or Super Bonus is triggered during the Power Spins, the displayed multipliers are transferred into the bonus round.

What Are the Feature Buy Options in Gates of Power?

Gates of Power offers five Feature Buy options (direct feature purchases), ranging from the most accessible to the most expensive. The Bonus Hunt, priced at just 5× the stake, is the most original option: only Scatter symbols can appear on the grid, significantly increasing the chances of triggering a Bonus or Super Bonus without having to pay 100× or 500× upfront.

Bonus Boost at 2× the stake: doubles the bet on every spin and increases the chances of triggering the Bonus or Super Bonus by more than 300%. The least intrusive option to give the Scatters a nudge without directly buying a feature.

Bonus Hunt at 10× the stake: only Scatter symbols can appear, with all others removed from the grid. This is the option we used during our session. The most logical choice for limited bankrolls.

Power Spins at 90× the stake: a Bolt or Scatter is guaranteed on every spin, with multipliers starting from a minimum of 50×. Ideal for creating boosted cascades or attempting to trigger a bonus with preloaded multipliers.

Bonus at 100× the stake: direct access to 15 free spins with multipliers ranging from 2× to 1,000×.

Super Bonus at 500× the stake: this is an all-in move. You need to be comfortable with the idea of watching that €100 vanish on a disappointing bonus—because yes, it happens more often than we’d like.

Gates of Power vs Gates of Olympus: The Real Differences

Gates of Olympus (Pragmatic Play, 2021) remains the absolute benchmark of the “Gates of” genre, with a max win of around 5,000×. Gates of Power adopts the same architecture—6×5 grid, scatter pays, cascades, and multipliers—but raises the ceiling with a max win three times higher at 15,000×, along with five Feature Buy options compared to just one from Pragmatic. BGaming arrives five years later, but the parameters are objectively different.

If you're chasing raw potential and more control over your session, Gates of Power clearly has the edge. If you prefer sticking with a classic backed by five years of history and a massive fanbase, Gates of Olympus remains the safer bet.

What Stake Should You Choose to Play Gates of Power Without Blowing Your Bankroll?

A hit frequency of 26.59% means regular stretches of dead spins on Gates of Power. A minimum bankroll of 100× your stake is a sensible baseline to absorb the variance—€20 to play comfortably at €0.20 per spin.

The Bonus Hunt at 10× (costing €2 per activation at €0.20) is the most suitable option for low-budget sessions. It allows you to chase a bonus without committing 90× or 500× upfront.

A Super Bonus at 500× (€100 at €0.20) is an all-in move. Personally, we only trigger it when we’re already in profit during the session. Because yes, a disappointing 500× bonus can hurt—badly.

Our Verdict on Gates of Power

Gates of Power is a strong release—no doubt about it. The multipliers are easy to track, the Feature Buy system is ultra-flexible, and the 10× Bonus Hunt is exactly the kind of option we’d like to see more often on slots of this style.

The 15,000× max win isn’t just marketing hype. Over our 3,500 spins, we landed a €654 hit from a €0.20 stake, proving the game can deliver when everything aligns.

Where BGaming stands out is its honesty about volatility. Gates of Power doesn’t try to soften the experience. Long bonus droughts are part of the deal, and with a bonus landing on average every 154 spins in normal play, you must be prepared to endure brutally dry stretches before seeing real returns.

BGaming enters a space Pragmatic Play has dominated since 2021. Gates of Power doesn’t reinvent the genre, but it refines it in key areas. For players seeking greater session flexibility and a higher max win potential, it stands as a serious alternative to Gates of Olympus.
